The Vilja wrap dress is finally here! It’s always so exciting to release a new pattern and especially now, as Vilja is particularly close to my heart. Vilja is the first sewing pattern I designed from scratch years ago and now I can finally share it with you!

Vilja wrap dress is great for beginners as it is a simple wrap dress with no tricky closures. In addition to the main fabric, all you need is thread and some fusible interfacing, how easy! The wrap bodice designed to be as covering as possible to avoid any unwanted flashing accidents. Some of the pattern testers reported that the bodice has some extra looseness in it, if you prefer a tighter fit bodice I recommend to go a size down. By sewing a toile first, you can make sure the bodice fits you just right!

About view 1

View 1 features practical ΒΎ sleeves and a hem that ends just below the knee. This version of Vilja is easy to style for different seasons; in summer, choose a light and airy natural fiber such as linen or cotton, and for the colder season you can go for a slightly thicker fabric with a bit more structure!

For this photo shoot sample, I used a gorgeous teal gabardine that made the dress perfect for the office or a special occasion. This Vilja is also great for more casual wear by pairing it with sneakers and a backpack.

About view 2

View 2 is the perfect relaxed summer wrap dress that features flowy butterfly sleeves and a midi length hem. For warmer weather, choose a breathable fabric that keeps you cool and doesn’t stick to your skin. Try to avoid synthetic fabrics like polyester and go for linen, cotton, rayon or semi-synthetic tencel. The most important thing is to choose a fabric that is lightweight and drapes beautifully!

the fabric used in this photo shoot sample is lovely mint green polka dot viscose from my fabric stash. I remember sewing this Vilja sample on a dark winter evening (I live in Finland) and dreaming how lovely this dress would be in summer. Now summer is finally here and I’ve worn this dress countless times already!

And that’s a wrap! So wonderful to finally share the Vilja wrap dress pattern with the world, I hope you share my excitement. I’m also going to post some amazing tester makes later this week, stay tuned!
